Can you register a .geek domain?

Not yet: applied for
The short answer
Not yet. .geek is not in the DNS root, so no registrar can sell a .geek domain today. It is one of 986 strings applied for in ICANN's 2026 new gTLD round, published October 7, 2026. 2 applicants want it (easyDNS Technologies Inc. and XRegistry Inc.), and only one can run it.

What .geek would mean

In their own words, from the public part of each application (question 118):

GEEK is a common English word for an enthusiast or expert, especially in computing and technology, and more broadly anyone with a passionate interest in a subject (e.g., "film geek"). It is widely used as a positive term of self-identification.

easyDNS Technologies Inc.

Common English noun, reclaimed from earlier dismissive use. A geek is an enthusiast with deep knowledge of a subject, most often games, computing, comics, film or collecting. The string is used in that ordinary sense.

XRegistry Inc.

When will .geek be available?

ICANN has not set a date. The final list of applied-for strings comes on String Confirmation Day (November 17, 2026), community input and objections run until March 16, 2027, and ICANN processes applications after a prioritization draw in 2027. Registration opens only after ICANN delegates .geek and its registry announces launch dates.
