One question per page, answered in the first paragraph, then backed with registry rules, Google’s own statements and live registrar prices. Every claim links to a dated primary source.

Will using a non-.com domain hurt my Google rankings?
No.
Starting an app in Brazil: should you use .com.br or .com?
If Brazil is your main market, make .com.br your primary domain and also hold the matching .com.
Can I register a .de or .ca domain if I don't live in that country?
For .de, yes: DENIC lets people and companies outside Germany register, and only asks you to name a German agent for legal documents if a dispute arises.
Should I buy the .net and .co versions of my domain to protect my brand?
Usually buy the .co, and the .net only if your brand is short or you will spend on ads.
Will emails from a .xyz or .io address go to spam?
Not automatically.
Is it risky to build my company on a .io domain because of the Chagos Islands deal?
The near-term risk is low.
How much will a .ai domain cost over 5 years, including renewals?
About $400 to $415 for a standard .ai name over five years at the cheapest registrars today: Cloudflare charges $80 a year and Porkbun $82.70 (October 2026), and .ai renews at the same price as year one.
Why does my .dev site require HTTPS, and can I turn it off?
Because Google, which runs the .dev registry, added the whole .dev TLD to the HSTS preload list in September 2017, and Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge all ship that list.
