Privacy policy

tld.expert has no accounts, no sign-up and no payments. We never ask for your name, email or any personal details. Updated October 21, 2026.

Who we are

tld.expert is an independent reference for domain extensions, run by Leftway. We are not a registrar and do not sell domains.

The website

We use PostHog (US cloud) for product analytics: page views, page leaves, how far you scroll, and clicks on outbound registrar links. PostHog sets a cookie with a random ID so visits can be counted; we do not build profiles of identified people. If a page throws an error, the browser sends the error message, page URL and user agent to our own error log.

Some registrar links carry an affiliate tag. If you buy after clicking one, the registrar may pay us a commission and its own privacy policy applies from that point.

The API and the MCP server

The public API (/openapi.json) and the MCP server at https://tld.expert/mcp (used by ChatGPT, Claude and other AI assistants) need no key and take no personal data, only the domain names, TLDs and words you ask about. We do not store queries in a database. Our host, Vercel, keeps standard request logs (time, path, IP address, user agent) for a limited period, and when a request fails we log the tool name, its inputs and the error so we can fix it. Those logs are used only to run and debug the service.

To answer a check we send the domain name, and nothing about you, to public DNS resolvers (Cloudflare, Google), the registry for that TLD (RDAP or WHOIS), a registrar availability API, and, for alternative suggestions, Datamuse for related words.

What we don’t do

We don’t sell or share data with advertisers, we don’t register or front-run domains you search for, and we don’t use your queries to train models.
