In their own words, from the public part of each application (question 118):
"Lift" is an ordinary English noun and verb meaning to raise something to a higher position, and the act of raising. As a noun it also denotes upward force in aerodynamics, a ride given to a passenger, and in British usage an elevator.

The mission and purpose of this TLD is to expand consumer choice by providing a clear namespace associated with raising, transport and upward force. Registrants may include transport providers, engineers, equipment suppliers, organizations and users. The purpose is sustainable because lifting and movement are recurring needs in transport, construction and daily life. The gTLD is not dependent on a single industry, technology, or business model and can accommodate evolving uses as technology and Internet activity develop.
