What .quantum would mean
In their own words, from the public part of each application (question 118):
Quantum commonly refers to a broadly recognized term used across a wide range of contexts.
quantum physics
"Quantum" is an English word, from Latin, meaning a discrete quantity of energy in physics; as a modifier, relating to quantum mechanics and the technologies built on it, as in quantum computing.
“Quantum” is the standard term for the smallest quantity of a physical property a system can possess and also extends to quantum computing, which harnesses quantum-mechanical phenomena like superposition and entanglement to perform computation.
Who applied for .quantum
Bird Pepper, LLC
US, stage: Pre-Evaluation Processing
The mission of .QUANTUM is to provide a namespace associated with the applied-for string. The .QUANTUM gTLD is intended to serve a broad range of registrants and users, including individuals, businesses, organizations, communities, projects, and other entities that identify with, relate to, or wish to be associated with the concept represented by the applied-for string.
Link Freedom Group / LFG
Link Freedom Group Ltd, MT, stage: Pre-Evaluation Processing
Link Freedom Group (LFG) aspires to become a best-in-class, vertically integrated domain name registration authority, see linkfreedomgroup.link. This TLD is part of a carefully curated portfolio of strings that LFG intends to pursue in ICANN’s 2026 New gTLD Program. In assembling this portfolio, LFG focused on securing meaningful, memorable, and commercially compelling strings that resonate strongly with end users and offer long-term growth potential.

Radix Technologies Inc SEZC, KY, stage: Pre-Evaluation Processing
1. Mission and purpose: The mission of .quantum is to provide a namespace for quantum science and technology and the many brands that carry the word. Intended registrants include quantum computing, sensing and communications companies; research laboratories, university programs and funded collaborations; media, education and events covering the field; and brands across sectors that use "quantum" in their names. Intended users are the researchers, engineers, businesses and customers engaged with quantum technology and the brands that carry the name. Following delegation, the applicant will, as …
Steelhead LLC
US, stage: Pre-Evaluation Processing
“Quantum” is the standard term for the smallest quantity of a physical property a system can possess and also extends to quantum computing, which harnesses quantum-mechanical phenomena like superposition and entanglement to perform computation. Steelhead LLC ("Steelhead" or the "Registry"), applicant for the “.quantum” gTLD, will serve the global quantum science and technology sector of organizations and individuals engaged in quantum physics research, quantum computing, quantum sensing and metrology, quantum communications and networking, and the education, standards, supply-chain, and …

When will .quantum be available?
ICANN has not set a date. The final list of applied-for strings comes on String Confirmation Day (November 17, 2026), community input and objections run until March 16, 2027, and ICANN processes applications after a prioritization draw in 2027. Registration opens only after ICANN delegates .quantum and its registry announces launch dates.
