Can you register a .uid domain?

What .uid would mean
In their own words, from the public part of each application (question 118):
UID is short for 'Universal Identity' - a single identifier for a person, device, or entity that remains consistent and recognizable across multiple platforms, systems, or contexts, rather than requiring separate identities for each one
Who applied for .uid
Innovation Service Limited
SC, stage: Pre-Evaluation Processing
The mission and purpose of .uid is to give individuals, devices, and organizations a namespace to establish and present a single, persistent identifier that remains consistent and recognizable across platforms, systems, and contexts. Rather than maintaining a fragmented identity for every service or device, registrants can use .uid to anchor a unified identity or credential — spanning personal digital identity profiles, IoT device registries, enterprise credentialing systems, and cross-platform authentication.

When will .uid be available?
ICANN has not set a date. The final list of applied-for strings comes on String Confirmation Day (November 17, 2026), community input and objections run until March 16, 2027, and ICANN processes applications after a prioritization draw in 2027. Registration opens only after ICANN delegates .uid and its registry announces launch dates.
