.world — should you use it?
Generic TLD · introduced 2015
The short answer
Grandiose in a useful way — good for immersive brands, events, and anything selling a universe. Why it works
- Big-canvas branding
- Availability
Why it might not
- Renewal jump
- Easy to sound pretentious
The longer take
Works when the product genuinely is a world (games, metaverse-ish products, festivals). Sam Altman literally bought world.org for World/Worldcoin — the ambitious-TLD lane is real.
