.xyz — should you use it?

  Generic TLD · introduced 2014

The short answer
The wildcard. Cheap, unpretentious, beloved by crypto and Gen-Z brands — but the bargain-bin pricing attracted spam, and some filters remember.

Generic
Price / yr

Why it works
  • Dirt cheap to try ideas on
  • Genuinely cool in crypto/web3 circles (and abc.xyz gave it Alphabet-grade cover)
  • Everything is available
Why it might not
  • Historical spam reputation; some email filters and corp firewalls are still suspicious
  • Cheap signal cuts both ways for mainstream audiences

The longer take

Alphabet's abc.xyz was the greatest endorsement a TLD ever got, and web3 adopted .xyz as its home turf. For a crypto project it's practically the default. For a B2B SaaS courting enterprise buyers, the residual spam association is a real, measurable email-deliverability tax — test before committing.
